Safekeeper

Safekeeper was Vance Brundage's name for his analytical engine, which spontaneously awakened to sentience. It is the main control center at Brundage House. It is large (it weighs approximately 900 pounds), immobile, and able to perceive and communicate only via one of Brundage's innovations, a keyboard and printer output. This limitation is mitigated by its control of external devices. Brundage gave it the ability to program the apportator monorail; this proved such a success that he added more mobile units, half a dozen "spiders" that can steer themselves about the property of Brundage House, running errands, powered by clockwork that Safekeeper rewinds.
